Monster Jam  is happening at the BJCC on January 8th and 9th at the BJCC.  Follow the link for more info.
The Great Southern Gun and Knife Show  will be at the BJCC January 9th and 10th.
  Sunday Jan. 17th, the Southern Bridal Show at the BJCC.  
  The 39th annual Birmingham Boat Show will be the main attraction Jan. 21st through Jan. 24th at the BJCC.  The Boat Show was the first public event held at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center in 1972, and is now one of the largest shows in the state.  
  Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey: Barnum's Funundrum in town Jan. 27th through Jan. 31st.

Cottontails, (http://www.christmasvillagefestival.com/)  an annual arts, crafts, and gifts show held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex will be going on Mar. 5th – 7th, 2010  More than 500 booths of exhibitors displaying art, crafts, gifts and food items make this a great place to shop for graduation, birthday, Mothers Day and other gifts.

bluff Park Art Show This is an annual fine art show in a park setting on the first Saturday in October. Sponsored by the non-profit Bluff Park Art Association. The information below is for 2008.  Original artist's own work only--no commercially made items.  The show is judged and the top award is a purchase award where the artist's work is shown in local schools and colleges. Proceeds from the Annual Show go to support the Arts in the greater Birmingham community. Website

The Barber Vintage Festival is an annual event that provides  a chance to see and hear exotic motorcycles from the Barber Motorsports museum with events including a swap meet, flea market and much more.

Pioneer Homes Pioneer Homes opens 1st Sun. in Dec. 1-4 p.m. or by appointment. Built in the early 1800's, three original pioneer homes (covered in clapboard) near Bessemer offer much about history in Alabama. Website
Birmingham Ballet presented The Nutcracker  at the BJCC concert Hall Dec. 12th  and 13th.

Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame held the Saturday Jazz Kids Concert  Dec. 12th.
  Zoo Light Safari  happens each weekend in December with light shows, holiday train rides and visit with Santa and more.  Rides have an additional charge.  
  The Christmas Sound & Light Show  at DeSoto Caverns Park occurs through  Jan. 1st in Childersburg.

To celebrate it's 11th year, McWane Science Center  is having a Birthday Splash on July 11.  It is also the day of the grand opening of the Shark & Ray Touch Tank where you can see and touch the creatures for the first time. There will be live stage shows, beach music and a shell and shark tooth hunt in the giant sand box.  Visitors may also meet SpongeBob SquarePants and Sid the Science Kid in person!   There will be discounted admission all day:  $5.50 Admission to museum and party all day! (Members FREE)

AquaPalooza when the World's Largest Boating Party comes to Lake Martin July 24th to 26th. The 2009 Signature Event is the biggest of all AquaPalooza celebrations.

Freedom's Sisters. July 25. Exhibition opens to public through October 4 at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

Pyro-Palooza II  at Regions Park  plans to light up the Birmingham sky this Saturday. The second annual event is to take place this weekend on August 8th, right after the game (Birmingham Barons vs. Tennesssee Smokies).  Enjoy the game then watch the fireworks extravaganza.

August 7th through 9th is the fourth Annual Alabama Department of Revenue  Sales Tax Holiday.  Visit the website for listings of participating municipalities and goods exempt from sales tax.
